Email supportFrequently asked questions
What are the controls?
W thrust, A/D turn, S brake, Space fire primary weapons, F fire missiles and torpedoes, Tab cycle targets, R target the nearest hostile, L land, M galaxy map, J jump, B board a disabled ship, E enter a wormhole, and Esc pause.
Every key except Escape can be rebound in Settings › Controls, or press ⌘/ in game to see the full list.
Can I play with a game controller?
Yes. Any controller macOS recognizes (Xbox, PlayStation or MFi) works in flight, alongside the keyboard: the left stick steers and thrusts, the triggers fire, and A lands. The full layout is in Settings › Controls. Docked screens use the mouse or trackpad.
When does the game save?
Whenever you're docked: after landing, after every trade or purchase, and when you press ⌘S. You can't save in flight. If your ship is destroyed, you can reload your last docked save, unless you're playing Ironman.
Where are my saves, and can I back them up?
Saves are in the game's own folder on your Mac:
~/Library/Containers/com.lastfreeport.LastFreeport/Data/Library/Application Support/com.lastfreeport.LastFreeport/Saves
Each pilot has its own folder, with the current save and a backup of the previous one. If a save is damaged, the game loads the backup automatically. Time Machine backs these folders up like any other files.
What is Ironman mode?
Ironman gives your pilot one save and permanent death. If your ship is destroyed, that pilot is retired for good and listed as a memorial under Load Pilot. You choose it when you create a pilot, and you can't turn it off later.
How do I travel to another galaxy?
Through a wormhole. Wormholes appear on the galaxy map as violet rings. Fly to the mouth and press E. Your jump drive can't cross between galaxies. Each wormhole only opens once you've earned access to the region on the far side, and the hint on screen tells you which mission or contact opens it.
A region is closed to me. How do I get in?
Open the galaxy map and select a system in the closed region. It lists the ways in, such as hauling for a guild, fighting for a picket, or charting it as an explorer. Jobs that open a region are marked with a key at spaceport bars.
I rebound a key and now something doesn't work.
Go to Settings › Controls and choose Reset to defaults. This doesn't touch your pilots or saves.
Does the game need the internet or collect any data?
No. Last Freeport is fully offline, with no accounts, ads or in-app purchases, and it collects no data. See the Privacy Policy.
What Mac do I need?
A Mac running macOS 15 or later. A keyboard and a mouse or trackpad are enough; a controller is optional.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all App Store purchases and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves, but if something isn't working, email us first. We may be able to fix it.
